He's Extremely Affectionate, As Long
As No One is Around

Dear Harlan,

I'm in love with this guy, and we have been together for five months. At school, he ignores me until we are alone. Outside school, he is so kind and loving. Help!

So Confused

Dear Confused,

"Kind and loving" means not ignoring you in public.

There are countless ways you can twist a relationship into something beautiful and good, but the fact remains that your "kind and loving" boyfriend ignores you in public - the mailman gets more attention. That's just wrong. Command and demand the respect you deserve, and ask him why he does this. Explain that you won't put up with it. As far as you're concerned, he's cheating, ashamed or embarrassed to be in a relationship, and that's just not kind or loving. If he can't change his ways or explain the reason, command the respect you deserve from someone who can give you what you deserve.
