"Booty Call" Definition

Dear Harlan,

I recognize that my wife and I have been out of social circulation for a long time, but we usually understand popular social language. We did not understand what a "Booty Call" was, as mentioned in a recent column. We asked several friends and relatives, but still no answers. Would you please explain?

Dear Booty Question,

Calling a friend and asking for the definition of a booty call would not be considered a booty call. But calling a friend or an acquaintance with the sole purpose of having sex with that friend or acquaintance would be considered a booty call. Now, that should clear it up.
