Welcome to The Rejection Diary. I hope you enjoy your
visit. If not, leave... It's okay. I can handle the rejection.
The
Rejection Diary is the product of over 28 years of reject
research - that's personal and professional
reject research. It started
when I was rejected from my mother's womb. I fought it the
whole way. I was three weeks overdue and didn't want to go...
I
had to be removed via C-section.
That
was just the beginning. The rejection continued through elementary
school, and then into high school. It
kept going strong into my college years and has only continued
to pick up momentum. I've
been a self-reject, a reject-in denial, the rejected, and
the rejector.
TO
NOT GET REJECTED IS TO NOT LIVE LIFE
THE REJECT TRUTH:
The
truth is that not everyone will like you. Not everyone will
like me. Not everyone will want you. Not everyone will want
me. It's not that we aren't good enough or attractive enough.
It's just that everyone cannot be with everyone. We
are all rejects by this definition.
The other
definition of a reject is: something that is not wanted because
it is viewed as defective or flawed. This definition is
NOT the proper definition of relationship rejection. Basically,
the person that you
see as "flawed" can easily become another person's
perfect partner.
Everyone
has his or her own definition of "perfect."
Relationship
rejection is about choice. It's about one person choosing
one good thing over another.
The hardest part about rejection is believing that you are
still "good enough" once you have been rejected.
The Rejection
Diary's mission is threefold:
to REDEFINE relationship rejection
to
COMFORT
fellow rejects on the reject road
to
CELEBRATE relationship rejection
My reject
revelation
happened close to 4 years ago. Since then, I've been going
out of my way to risk rejection in the name of reject research.
This website is only one product of my reject journey.
My new
book, The
Rejection Diary" (coming soon) is another contribution.
This deeply honest book shares my personal story, the rejection
stories of others, and ultimately, the answer to THE MOST
asked question by readers of my Help Me, Harlan! column.
My REJECT
SPEAKING TOUR is another contribution. This multi-media
speaking event combines live music, personal stories, and
audience participation. My reject tour will be making stops
all across the United States starting in February 2002 and
continuing throughout the year. For more information email:
