Rejection Diary
Getting Beyond IT

Dear Harlan,

How do you get over someone who has broken your heart with cheating and lies? Will it ever come back and haunt them? I hope so. Please reply soon.

"Tricia"

Dear Tricia,

What helps is coming to the realization that someone who does this is sick - seriously, a coward who lacks all compassion, integrity and self-respect. Someone so sick needs help, not a girlfriend. That's where compassion comes into play. Once you can begin to feel sorry for him, you can start to separate yourself from the pain. It's not about what YOU did do or what YOU didn't do. Know that you are beautiful and someone who has many options. It's about a partner who is a sick person unwilling to be honest with you and unable to show you enough respect to end things before hurting you. And at this point, you can start asking yourself why you'd want someone like this in your life. There are options - better options. Feel sad for him. Live your life enveloped by the people who love you. Do the things you love. Begin to heal. And that's one way to move on.
