REJECTION DIARY:
Happy Today, Gone Tomorrow

Dear Harlan,

I have been dating this really sweet guy since the last week of April, but he has broken up with me because "He doesn't feel the same anymore." Just a week ago, he was extremely happy about us. I still feel for him somewhat, and I don't think that it'll be good if I act upon these feelings. What should I do?

Confused Junior

Dear Confused Junior,

If you decide to act, here are your lines ...

YOU: I want to know - what happened to change the way you way feel about us?

HIM: (fill in with some poor excuse)

YOU: It's just really disappointing. I really liked you. (a dramatic pause to let him sit in his guilt)

YOU: Thanks for being honest. I hope you find what you're looking for ...

Then you don't contact him for a while. You can't force someone to like you, but you can force him to see what life is like without you. If he should come back, don't be so quick to take him back. You want to be what he wants, not what he's settling for.
