REJECTION DIARY:

When She Doesn't Want You

Dear Harlan,

I feel so stupid for wanting a girl who so clearly doesn't want me. I walk around having imaginary conversations with her. Why is it so easy for some people to move on and have fun after a break-up? Dating sucks so bad. It's like there's a rule that those you like shall not like you, and vice versa. I try to be happy. Sometimes I just force myself to smile and think positive things.

In Love and Rejected

Dear In Love,

It's time to have an imaginary conversation and dump the imaginary girl. Recite the Eleventh Commandment of love and life to yourself: Those who you like shall not always like you. As I mentioned during Rejection Awareness Week, when you can't handle the Universal Rejection Truth of dating and relationships, take a step back and train for the sport of taking risks. The goal of training is to get comfortable enough in your skin so that you can handle all the women who won't return your affection on the path to finding the ones who will. If you can't figure out what you need to do to train, seek professional help. Stop imagining having fun and actually start having it.
